  Last Year's Art Club Project--

This year students in Art Club will be creating "Sound Suits." We will look at the artwork of Chicago artist, Nick Cave, and create our own versions of a "Sound Suit."

Students in Art Club created sculptures in the style of British artist, Andy Goldsworthy.  Following an end-of-the-year pizza party, students looked at images of Andy Goldsworthy's artwork.  They learned that Andy is an environmentalist artist who creates site-specific sculptures using only available materials found on the sites.  Because of the transient nature of his sculptures, Andy photographs his work as a way of publishing his art.

Once students had an understanding of Goldsworthy's artwork, they were divided into groups and sent on a scavenger hunt to find natural materials on the school's grounds.  After each group accumulated a variety of materials, they regrouped in the foyer of the school to assemble their sculptures.  Each group created a figure tracing and filled it in using their found materials.  The sculptures turned out great, and were a welcome addition to our annual school Art Show!
